The parrot can clamber through trees, using foot and beak, and are often called "Monkeys of the bird world". They have heavy, hooked beaks and yolked toes. Two point forward, and two point backwards.


They alight in the tops of the tallest trees, chattering and squawking back and forth, seemingly counting heads and reassuring themselves that everyone is safe and accounted for.. Then the darkness comes, and suddenly there isn't any sound at all.

The tongue is thick and fleshy and has horny growth like a human fingernail below its tongue.
