7 JUAN MIGUEL LONGORIA 1815-1875 (NW to SE axis) Apr 1999. Marble plaque on Juan Miguel's parents, Irineo and Maria Inez Cavazos, were descendants of the 1749 initial Spanish settlers in this region. The Longorias established ranches in Reynosa and in the area extending from what is now Santa Rosa, Texas to the river. Juan Miguel Longoria, with his first wife Silveria Ruiz followed by his second wife Teresa Guerra and their children, farmed this land and constructed some of the earliest canal and irrigation systems in the Rio Grande Valley. (totally white washed)
