It is the only burial at the Iwo Jima War Memorial. The name of the memorial is visible.
Age:
CPL Harlon H. Block was enshrined at the memorial when the grave was established on Feb. 18, 1995.
Size:
The site is located inside the city limits of Harlingen Tx. Therefore, through special permission only, there is only one grave.
Types of Markers:
A lone military granite marker.
Type of Cemetery & it's owner:
It is privately owned & operated by the Marine Military Academy. MMA is the caretaker that placed the plot on the west to east axis with the head resting on the west & the feet to the east.
Condition:
The grave is maintained well with no fence surrounding it. The plot and the area around it is grassed with small trees on the site. It has a granite military marker (plaque) that lies flat with the ground.
Location:
The grave is located at the Marine Military Academy, 320 Iwo Jima Blvd. Harlingen, Tx. adjacent to the Harlingen Airport off 507 FM road. You can reach the sight from an entrance near the roads to the airport.
