It appears there is no official name according to land owner Mrs. Ballenger. She believes that the cemetery may have been referred to as El Pie (the foot) because it is located at the foot of that particular tract of land. There is no name or sign indicating the name of the cemetery.
The Cameron County Historical Commission has referred to this cemetery as Orphanage road Cemetery because it is located on Orphanage Road. Mrs. Ballenger said that at one time there was a orphanage home for black children located on Orphange road, the reason for the name of the street.
