The Mean Witch

As told to: Celsa Chong

By: Gumecinda Chong

My mother used to live in Mexico, a part of Rayon, S.L.P. She lived alone in a house, which had windows with no glass. My mom was pregnant with my brother, Rogelio Rubio Mendez Montalvo. Her neighbor told her that a witch would come into her window and then it would go up the hill. In the morning when she woke up, her legs had round purple spots. She went to the doctor to check if the baby was okay and he told her that the baby was all right and she didn't have to worry. She wanted to know what she had on her legs. The doctor said that a witch had come during the night and sucked her legs. Then, years passed and she moved to the United States and lived happier here with my dad.
