The Cotillion Club has strict regulations about the way a young lady may dress for her debut at the Presentation Ball. Tradition requires that all young ladies wear all-white, floor-length ball gowns and appropriate white gloves when being presented at the Presentation Ball. Short gloves may be worn with long-sleeved dresses and with dresses having elbow-length sleeves. Long gloves may be worn with sleeveless dresses and short-sleeved dresses. Gloves are to be solid white; no lace gloves are permitted. The debutantes are not the only ones who must conform to a "dress code." Fathers escorting their daughters for the Presentation must be in black and white formal attire. This includes the traditional black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie and cumberbund only - no tails or western cut tuxedoes. Military uniforms are acceptable. Dates escorting members to the ball must also be in formal attire-tradtional black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie and cummberbunds only- no tails or western cut tuxedoes. Formal military uniforms are also acceptable. Flowers and boutonnieres are furnished to all new members, but corsages are not allowed to be worn during the Presentaion. Senior members and advisors are also required to wear floor-length gowns, other than white, to the Presetation Ball. Escorts must be in formal attire-traditional black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie and cummberbunds only- no tails or western cut tuxedoes. |
